The University of Montana has one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. It’s our Rocky Mountain surroundings with the Clark Fork River nearby that give our home its natural appeal, and it’s the thoughtful and classic architecture that adds to the scholarly environment.

Start Your Student Journey in Gilkey Building

 Gilkey Building, located on the west side of campus right across from the Gallagher Business Building, might just be the first building you ever set foot in on campus. Admissions holds up the fort in this building, greeting prospective students and future Grizzlies. If you decide to come tour campus, this will be your starting point and your UM informational hub.

University Center — A Space for All Things Student

The University Center, nestled between Aber and Main Hall, is the hub for students. The building has a market, the Go Griz Store (your one-stop shop for Griz gear), the Gaming Den (ping-pong, anyone?), endless amounts of seating space for eating and studying and more. Throughout the year, there’s tabling and events around the indoor arboretum. Something’s always going on in the UC!

Lots of Business in Gallagher Building

UM’s got a lot to be proud of, as we are the #1 business school in Montana! Because of this, the Gallagher Business Building is a frequently visited spot. Located on the west side of campus, business majors or those taking business classes will find themselves here plenty. There’s also a coffee shop downstairs (incentive to visit the building, maybe?)

Stay Healthy by Going to Curry Health Center

Curry Health Center, located north of the Gallagher Business Building, offers a myriad of health-related services to students, including counseling, check-ups and dental appointments. Well-being is an important issue UM takes seriously, and Curry offers a plethora of well-being services, including a relaxation station, wellness wall and support coaches. Stay healthy and happy, Grizzlies!

Get a Bite to Eat at The Lodge

The Lodge is the newest building on campus — and it’s a beautiful spot to eat! Home to seven thoughtfully designed restaurants, The Lodge feeds students every day with healthy, local foods, as well as a variety of foods for those with dietary needs and preferences. You can find The Lodge around the Oval near the Payne Family Native American Center.

Work Up a Sweat in Campus Rec 

Campus Rec is a popular destination for students. Located north of the Adams Center, this building provides excellent exercise machines, exercise classes, a rock wall, basketball court and a track. Students can also rent recreational materials from the rec center, including YakTraks and cross-country skis. Fees for Campus Rec are included in your tuition, so just take your Griz card and you’re all set to sweat!

A Masterclass in Architecture at the Payne Family Native American Center

The Payne Family Native American Center, located on the southwest of campus, is a beautiful building designedto resemble a lodge nestled in the trees and surrounded by natural plains grass. The PFNAC has classrooms, an Ethnobotanical garden, an  outdoor fire pit, a planetarium and artwork from different tribes. Even if you don’t have classes there, be sure to check out this gorgeous space!

English, World Languages and More in Eck Hall

The recently named Eck Hall, otherwise known as the Liberal Arts Building, is the go-to building for English, Creative Writing, World Languages, Psychology classes and more. This building sits north of the Oval. Liberal Arts professors and instructors hold office hours within the building, and there are some cute nooks where you can study and enjoy some peace and quiet.

Sports Fan? Tour the Hall of Champions!

Hall of Champions! This unique spot located in the Adams Center showcases trophies, awards, newspaper articles and more from all UM sports over the years. Like a museum, you can check out the items behind the glass and learn more about our athletic history through the greats! You can visit this hall whenever, though it’s always fun to visit right before a basketball or football game! 

Find Peace and Quiet in Mansfield Library

Located on a quiet corner of campus near the M Hill, UC and Main Hall, the Mansfield Library is the perfect spot to study, research, check out books and other materials, use computers, print, fix all tech problems and a whole lot more. Check out their website to see what else is housed in the library, such as the Mansfield Center and Archives.

Find Student Services Resources in Aber Hall

Aber Hall, located on the east side of campus near the M hill, was once a high-rise dormitory that is now home to student services resources. On the first six floors, you can find the financial aid offices, advising center, office for student success and other services. This will be your go-to spot for anything related to student needs and aid.
