What is a Creative Entrepreneurship Certificate?

A creative entrepreneurship certificate refines the administrative and financial aspects of working a “non-traditional” job and monetizing your creative skills. 

Students choose among a pool of business and media arts classes aligned with their interests and complete a semester-long internship in a related field. Learn more about UM’s creative entrepreneurship certificate.

Combined with an arts and media degree

While the Creative Entrepreneurship Certificate can be combined with any degree offered on campus, it’s designed to supplement the Arts and Media curricula. It’s a 12-certificate program, equivalent to three classes and a semester-long internship. 

A Creative Entrepreneurship Certificate Curriculum

UM’s Creative Entrepreneurship Certificate required 12 credit hours, combining two business classes, one media arts class and a semester-long internship. 

Business classes range from Accounting to Event Management and Introduction to Public Service. Media Arts classes include courses like Integrated Online Marketing, Social Media and Audience, and First Amendment and Media Law. Learn more about the creative entrepreneurship requirements.

The creator economy underlines the monetary value of the vast world of content in our digital ecosystem. From TikToks to viral videos, social media posts and every advertisement read, watched or listened to, the creator economy is ever-growing and ever-evolving to match changing cultural expectations.
