OneStop email channel gets an upgrade

January 23rd, 2009 by Gordy Pace

A new version of OneStop’s Email Viewer channel launches today. The new channel creates a one-click connection between OneStop and Outlook Web Access (OWA). The new channel also provides the ability to view messages from multiple email accounts like Gmail or other IMAP services.

To activate the new Email Viewer channel, go to the email page in OneStop and enter your username and password for your official University email account (whether it’s a student GrizMail account or an employee Exchange email account). You can then add additional non-University accounts that will display messages in the same channel, but in a separate window.

How it works

Once you have entered your UM email account credentials, you should see messages from your inbox displayed in OneStop. Clicking on a message launches Outlook Web Access (OWA) and opens the message there, so you have full functionality to respond, delete or file the message. There is also a link in the Email Viewer channel to open OWA to your inbox.

The Gmail and IMAP emails work a little differently. You can view a message by clicking on it in OneStop, but to access your inbox and full email functionality, you will have to click on the Gmail or IMAP link above the messages.

You can choose how many messages display in OneStop through the channel edit screen. The new channel has a pagination tool that allows you to scroll through all of your messages. You can also add the Email Viewer channel to any column in OneStop that has an “Add Content” button.

Blackboard single sign-on now available

January 2nd, 2009 by Gordy Pace

On Dec. 29th, Blackboard joined the suite of UM web systems that are “CASified.”

CAS-Central Authentication Service-is the front door to a growing number of secure UM web services, including OneStop, the Mansfield Library system, iTunes U and now Blackboard. Your NetID and password unlocks that front door and gives you access to all of the systems inside.

The single point of entry, or “single sign-on,” provided by CAS allows users to move among the web systems without having to re-authenticate. CAS also notifies users when their password is about to expire, and eliminates the problem of getting passwords out of sync (one NetID with more than one password).

Previously, the link between OneStop and Blackboard was achieved using an “external application” tool that allowed you to store your Blackboard login credentials in OneStop. When you changed your NetID password, you had to change it a second time in the Blackboard channel in OneStop. That step is no longer necessary.

We have updated the default style in an effort to make OneStop match the design of the new UM Homepage. If you have already selected a style it should remain unchanged. If you’re not a fan of the new design you can change it to something different. Click on the Customize Style link at the top of the page and select one of the six available designs:

Password change requires updating of channels

September 18th, 2008 by Gordy Pace

You’ve been seamlessly navigating from OneStop to Blackboard and GrizMail. Then you change your NetID password and the single sign-on capability doesn’t work anymore. What’s going on?

The Blackboard, GrizMail and Webmail Viewer channels in OneStop all require you to enter and store your NetID and password. When you change your password, you will have to enter your new password in the edit screens of each of those channels to regain single sign-on capability. Here’s how:

1. Click on the wrench icon on the channel you want to update.

Add the To-Do List to your page to organize and keep track of tasks.  You can add tasks, rename them, mark them complete, and delete them when you’re done. You can add as many tasks as you want, which might come in handy if you’re trying to keep track of an ever expanding list of things — such as homework assignments.

To add this to your page, click on the “add content” button at the top of the page and look for this icon:
