RSS delivers (and connects)

I have a newspaper delivered to my front door every morning. If I had to go out and buy a newspaper every day, I doubt that I would. And I would miss out on a lot of information that keeps me connected to my community.

Visiting websites is easier than driving to the nearest newsstand, but it’s still a time-consuming task to visit all of the sites that might have information relevant to me, and to cull through the mass of content to find what I want.

That’s why I’m a fan of RSS – Really Simple Syndication.

With RSS, I can subscribe to dozens of news feeds and blogs that are relevant to my work and my life, and get them all delivered to one place. For me, that place is OneStop.

This IT community blog produces an RSS feed (see How to subscribe). Soon, IT announcements will be available through an RSS feed as well. At the next Tech Partners meeting on February 26 we will talk about how we can leverage RSS as an IT community to improve our communication and connect with each other.

I hope you all subscribe to that idea.

I too am a fan of the RSS capability in OneStop. I finally set it up and love that I can log in each morning and see what’s new without having to visit each site.
