System administrators continue working on the blacklist issues created by last weekend’s compromised email account incident. They blocked the account from sending further messages and are contacting the email service providers to delist us (@umt.edu). This process may take some time. Tuesday, April 29th, 2008An email account was compromised last weekend and then used to distribute large amounts of spam. As a result, UM email (@umt.edu) has been blacklisted by an unknown number of spam filters. IT administrators are in the process of confirming that the compromised account has been secured. Once this is verified, they will work on removing UM mail servers from the black lists. Further updates will be posted as soon as they are available. Thank you.

Monday, April 21st, 2008System administrators have cleared the IMAP/POP issue and user connectivity should appear normal. Administrators will continue to address issues from last week’s service outage. Intermittent service breaks may occur over the next 24-48 hour period. Thank you for your cooperation.
Email Issues – STATUS 4/18/08-3:45pm
Friday, April 18th, 2008The one remaining email service issue is the inability for users with IMAP or POP3 to access their mail. Please continue to direct those users to the OWA web interface until the issue is resolved (messaging.umt.edu). We continue to work with Dell and Microsoft on this and should have additional information to report early next week. Regarding mail delivery, all queues are now cleared, so all external email should have been received – and mail is flowing normally. Thank you again, for your patience during this time.
