I graduated from UM in 1958 with a major in music and a minor in library science and spent 36 years as a library/media specialist. Many lifelong friends were made during my 5 years on campus. It wasn’t until many years later that I realized what a profound impression UM made on me and my career.
I had more time than money so I decided I’d do some volunteer work for the University. My first activity was playing in the UM Alumni Band for about 10 years. Toward the end of that time, a fellow Alumni Band member got me involved with the UM Alumni Association’s House of Delegates.
During my involvement with the House of Delegates, my wife and I started coming early to homecoming to volunteer in the Alumni Office. They have continuously found last minute things with which we could help them. We have developed a much stronger tie to the University not to mention a wider circle of alumni friends.
You, too, can find a way to give of your time to help The University of Montana fulfill its mission. Volunteering is good for the mind and soul.
